As you all may know by now that I am currently attending Otis College of Art and Design. Every year the Fashion Department put together a show for the Juniors and Senior Class. The way it’s structured is that, Juniors and Seniors have mentors that comes in, give them specific directions, and the students are expected to design under the restrictions of their chosen mentors. From what I have learned, students are given their first choice due to their grades.
There are two shows, one is called the Jury show where all of the pieces made will be shown, and 70 judges from the industry will cast their ballots for the best outfits. The Jury show will start next week on Thursday. The pieces chosen will then be in the scholarship show at the end of the school year.
I will be participating by dressing the models backstage, I am disappointed that I won’t be able to see the whole show, but at least I get to see the pieces up close and personal.

I know we always talk about fashion on this blog, but I would like to stray a little bit and talk about beauty. I mean you can have on the sexiest outfit, but if your face looks like a**, then you better be damn talented at something for that girl to notice you. Take it from me, girls like rugged looking guys, but they also appreciate a guy with soft skin and moist elbows.
Here are a few things you should consider to keep a cleaner image:
- Wash your face twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. Always use face-wash and face moisturizer afterwards. But please don’t stock your medicine cabinet with more than one face moisturizer.
- Please trim that uni-brow if you have one and even if there are only a few in between the brows…TRIM IT!
- And while you’re trimming consider your toes, nails, nose, ear, and you know what….
- Shave that neck fuzz, it’s just not hot
- Lotion is your new best friend. You don’t even have to get the lavender smelling one. Just make it a habit to put on lotion after showers.
- AND lastly…Axe it!
Here are some products that you can find in your local Target…
Gwyneth Paltrow, yes! The actress is teaming up with French jersey brand, Zoe Tee’s, the line is called Zoe Tee’s Loves Gwyneth Paltow. When I first read about this, I was irritated by another clothing line trying to gain hype by collaborating with someone famous.
I do believe that some people are just multi-talented and I completely respect that. On the other hand, there are people who think the art of fashion design is just slapping pieces of fabric together and that’s it. I always wonder how much “designing” do these people actually do? Do they sit down, sketch out the garment, draw out the details on flats, choose the fabric, and make the final decision on the garment constructed?
I don’t want to downplay Paltrow and her hidden talents; I guess I will make the judgment when her whole collection comes out.

I watched Lagerfeld Confidential while working on some homework last night. It wasn’t the smartest idea since the movie was in French, and I spent more time reading subtitles than concentrating on homework like I was supposed to. Funny, because I put it on so that it would inspire me to work! HAH!
My impressions of Karl Lagerfeld before the documentary was this snobby, arrogant, dark man that thinks he is god’s gift to mankind. Well this movie didn’t prove otherwise, but I still think he is brilliant. He i also a deep thinker, philosopher, and apparently photographer too.
I like the fact that the director didn’t hide the true side of Lagerfeld, a clean cut guy that is surrounded by oganized chaos. His Mansion is filled to the top with magazines and books, he has several serving bowls filled with different rings and jewlery. The list goes one, but you get the point. Anyway, I definitely think it’s a good watch, just dont expect it to be similar to the Marc Jacobs documentray, this is one makes you think about life, not just a life in fashion.

I don’t ever plan on getting of these bags because I don’t want to play into the stereotype, but that doesn’t mean I would hate on you if you purchase one, maybe just a little. But for an extra $300 dollars you personalize your Speedy by getting your initials on it, that is only $100 per letter!

Currently I am working on military inspired designs for Fall. The direction for this project includes: Junior girls, age range between 18-22, Natural colors and fabric such as cotton, wool, flannel, knits, and so forth. The directions given to us was what I posted a few days ago, “Elements in Oppostion”.
Taking from these directions, I am thinking of big comfortable tees made from organic cotton, army ankle biter pants with big pockets, small fitted hooded jacket made from knitted material. These are the key words I am drawing inspiration from: comfort, stylish, young, fresh, warmth, practicality….
I have been with T-mobile for a long time now, since my sidekick days. Before that I had Verizon and loved it because I could get signal pretty much anywhere, even in dark underground chem labs. I switched because at the time I thought the sidekick was really cool, and I have a Blackberry Pearl now.
About a month into using my phone it broke! If wanted to call out it would turn on the camera and snap a picture. I fixed that problem when I threw it on the ground. Then the service got crazy on me. I would have to call someone at least four times to get a hold of them and then talk really fast because I know it is going to cut out. I even missed several interview appointments because the call never made it through.
Finally, super upset and really pissed I called T-mobile, spent and hour talking to the manager and she said, “we’ll send out a tech to your area and just call us back after a week”. So I wait….and gave them two weeks. Then I called back and this girl name Stephanie answered the phone and tried to get me to re-new my contract and get a different phone that will connect to my wi-fi for better service. I put on my angry “you don’t want to mess with me girrrrrrrlllll” voice, and half an hour later I got what i wanted. She hung up on me after I got her employee number and name. 1 for me and ZERO for the man.
Heading to Apple store to get my iphone after work.
